Prezi is a cloud-based presentation software and employs a zooming user interface (ZUI), which allows users to zoom in and out of their presentation media, and allows users to display and navigate through information.  It is compatible with most modern computers and web browsers and can be used in primary education and higher education by teachers and students.

It is based on a software as a service model (software is licensed on a subscription fee (monthly basis) and is centrally hosted) and also offers an educational license for students and educators.

Prezi allows students to construct and present their knowledge in different learning styles.  Teachers who adopt Prezi may be able to capitalize on the novelty and unique features of the software. Students who are used to a litany of text-filled PowerPoint slides will likely perk up when presented a visually rich Prezi. ( Houska,2013)  More interesting to students, however, is Prezi’s zooming and scrolling to frames containing information. This type of movement is quite different from the slide flipping, transitions or animations possible in PowerPoint. So, use of  Prezi in the classroom opens up the classroom to active learning and interactivity, making lessons understandable, memorable and fun.(Houska,2013)
