Edmodo is a web-based platform that provides a safe and easy way for your class to connect and collaborate, share content, and access homework, grades and school notices. It is like Facebook but in a safe and controlled environment appropriate for school (Grade 5 onwards). It runs on all platform – students can upload their work on any device, and teachers can view it and provide feedback regardless of their location and the smart device . It doesn’t matter if the school is BYOD, or if the hardware is changed, all of the information will remain on Edmodo, despite  individual or school-based technology choices.

 

It is an effective educational tool as Edmodo provides you with a secure environment where you can create a classroom group for your students. In this virtual group you can place digital resources on Edmodo for students to access or download.

Students also stand to benefit from the platform. They can access extra help from peers and able to turn in work for teacher review and get instant feedback, including teacher annotations. Beyond being able to join groups for clubs, sports and other activities, students (especially younger ones) can learn how to interact safely and appropriately online.

This apps are highly effective, user-friendly, responsive and collaborative, the technology definitely enhances the learning process. (Cunningham, 2013).
